Tampons for Tweens: Making the Scary Part Less Scary

Tampons for Tweens: Making the Scary Part Less Scary

Girls are growing up, and they need support. It feels like going through the ringer with different wrestlers called hormones, emotions, body changes, and school all at once. So we design products for their growing bodies — not adult ones.

There are moments when a girl is wondering if she is ready for a tampon or tries it out immediately in an emergency situation, before a game. There are moms trying to figure out how to bring tampons up or ban tampons completely out of fear. That’s why we made Scarlet by RedDrop.

Our co-founder, Dana Roberts, had a class full of tween girls telling her that period products like tampons felt uncomfortable and hurt to insert. After years of trial and error, we are launching our new tampons for tweens and teen girls. They are made so girls can keep doing what they love without interruptions.

For the girls on the go, Scarlet tampons are perfect whether she’s at school, on the field, or swimming with friends because they are smaller, smoother, and softer for an easy, gentle, and comfortable experience every time. Scarlet gives girls confidence to move freely, have fun, and live their lives. The best part is that moms know that girls are protected, prepared, and comfortable with a product that fits their body and lifestyle.

Scarlet helps girls feel in control of their period care as they grow, remain active, and focus on their daily lives. Let’s get real. Tampons tend to be the scariest part of period care. They come with mixed messages, myths, and a lot of what-ifs.

What is it?

Each pack has 18 extra-small tampons that are made smaller and softer for growing girls’ bodies. Each tampon has a 100% organic cotton core for safety and softness and an easy-glide applicator for smooth, gentle use. Plus, they are pediatrician and mom-approved for peace of mind.

We are the first to create a tampon that fits tween and teen girls’ bodies. It’s a big deal and important to us to support girls at every stage of life. We believe that her first experience should be easy.

For Girls Trying Tampons for the First Time

  1. How do I know if I’m ready? If you’re curious and want more freedom to swim, dance, or play without worry. You’re ready to try. We want you to try before any emergency situation, but we are there if you need us.
  2. Will it hurt? Nope. Scarlet Tampons are smaller and softer, so they go in gently and feel comfortable once they’re in place.
  3. How do I put one in? Wash your hands, relax, and use the smooth applicator to guide it in. You’ll barely notice it when it’s in the right spot.
  4. How long can I wear it? Up to 8 hours — but you can start by changing sooner until you find your rhythm.
  5. Can I swim or play sports with it? Yes! That’s the best part. You can move, jump, or dance without worrying about leaks.
  6. What if I’m nervous? That’s totally normal. Take your time and talk with your mom or someone you trust. You’ve got this.
  7. Can I wear this at night? We don’t recommend that you wear tampons at night. You can switch to our pads or our period underwear for a more comfortable feel.

For Tweens & Teens Already Using Tampons

  1. What makes Scarlet different? They’re smaller, softer, and made for growing bodies, so they feel natural and easy all day.
  2. Can I wear it at school or practice? Definitely. You’ll stay dry and confident for up to 8 hours — no constant changes needed.
  3. What are they made of? A 100% organic cotton core with a smooth, easy-glide applicator - safe, clean, and gentle.
  4. Can I sleep in it? It’s better to switch to a pad or period underwear at night so your body can rest comfortably.
  5. What if I leak a little? It happens! Just try a higher absorbency or pair it with a pad or period underwear until you find what works best.

For Moms (of First-Timers)

1. How do I know if she’s ready? If she’s curious and asking questions, she might be. Every girl is different. When she’s ready, Scarlet helps her feel comfortable and confident.

2. Are tampons safe for tweens and teens? Yes. When used correctly, tampons are completely safe. Scarlet Tampons are smaller, softer, and designed for growing bodies.

3. What about Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS)? TSS is a rare but serious infection that can happen if a tampon is left in too long. To stay safe, always tell your girl to change their tampon every 4 to 8 hours, wash their hands before and after use, and never wear one overnight. Scarlet Tampons are made with soft, safe materials for comfortable, confident protection.

4. How can I help her feel comfortable trying? Start the conversation gently and remind her there is no rush. Show her how it works and let her know you are there if she has questions.

5. Why choose Scarlet?  They are smaller, softer, and made for her body, providing comfort and peace of mind for both of you.
